Before playing Zelda’s Lullaby on the piano, let’s first go over the basics.
Let’s start by looking at the notes on a piano keyboard:
The name of the notes on a piano keyboard.
When we look at the picture above, we can see that the piano keyboard is divided into several parts, which are repeated identically. Each part consists of 7 white keys, which form an octave. When we reach the eighth, the sequence of notes is repeated identically and we arrive on a new octave.
In order to find your way around the piano more easily, you can use the black keys. Unlike the white keys, the black keys do not repeat identically. They work in groups of two and three keys, which allows us to better locate ourselves on the keyboard.
For example, if you are looking for the note G, you should first look at the groups of 3 black keys. The G is the white key between the first and second black keys of this group of 3.

But now we have to learn how to play it with both hands at the same time.
Learning to separate your hands is a very difficult exercise when you start playing the piano.
Many beginners take a long time to master it.
Our brain is not used to processing such precise information simultaneously. That’s why we have to work hard to make it natural and easy.
Before you play Zelda’s Lullaby with both hands, here are some tips to help you master this exercise faster.
Start by playing the notes of each hand independently. Play the right hand first and once you have mastered it, switch to the left hand. This allows you to gradually learn the notes and rhythms of the song.
This is the technique we have chosen to adopt in this tutorial dedicated to playing the notes of Zelda’s Lullaby on the piano.
Once you have mastered the two hands independently, you will have to play them together.
To do this, we advise you to work by short passage of the song. If the song is 2 minutes long, then choose for example the first 10 seconds and start playing the notes with both hands at the same time. Go slowly, then speed up the rhythm as you go along, until you get to the original tempo of the song you are working on.
Once you can play the first 10-second sequence with both hands, move on to the next 10 seconds and repeat the same exercise. When you have mastered this second passage, play the two passages in a row (the first 20 seconds of the song), and so on.
This technique allows you to assimilate the information gradually and to give your brain time to process it. This learning by short parts of the song will allow you to be more comfortable on your game and to learn faster. Your motivation will increase over time as you learn faster and faster.
Note: At La Touche Musicale, we name this technique the “learning loop”. Noticing its effectiveness on piano learning, we decided to integrate a feature into our online piano learning app that allows you to loop any part of the song and learn it in a few hours.
Zelda’s Lullaby on the piano: the notes of both hands.
We created a third tutorial video showing the notes of both hands to be played at the same time on the piano.
This will help you work on your coordination and know when to synchronize your hands.
If you have trouble keeping up with the video, we recommend pausing it regularly to give yourself time to place your fingers correctly on the keyboard.
Note: on La Touche Musicale app, you don’t need to pause the song. The app waits for you until you play the right note.
