FluteConvert - Convert your audio files into PDF, MIDI, and XML flute sheet music

FluteConvert transforms audio into flute sheet music, allowing you to find a melody, theme, or instrumental line without starting from scratch. You can choose between transcription, which closely follows the recorded performance, or arrangement, which provides a cleaner, more readable version that is easier to work with on the flute. The generated files can be exported in PDF, MIDI, and MusicXML formats.

When transcribing, FluteConvert extracts the flute line as it is played in the audio. This assumes that the flute is actually present and sufficiently distinct: if it shares its register with other instruments (vocals, strings, synths) or if the audio is highly compressed, detection can be more difficult. In arrangement, FluteConvert produces a flute version based on the main melody and musical structure of the piece. The aim is not to find an existing flute part, but to obtain a score that is readable and playable on the flute, even if the original recording does not feature a flute.

Import an audio/video file or paste a YouTube link, then select Transcription or Arrangement. FluteConvert analyzes the source, identifies the flute part when possible, and generates a score that can be used immediately. You can then download the PDF to read, the MIDI to produce, and the MusicXML to edit in notation software.

FluteConvert supports YouTube links as well as imported audio and video files. The most common formats (MP3, WAV, MP4, AAC, etc.) are accepted, making it easy to use with rehearsal recordings, live recordings, or video clips. The important thing is to have a source where the flute remains sufficiently audible.

Transcription is appropriate when the audio contains a clearly audible flute and the goal is to reproduce a version that is as close as possible to the original performance (theme, counter-melody, melodic line). It is the right choice for transcribing a passage played on the flute as it was recorded. Arrangement is preferable when the goal is to play the song on the flute from a sung or orchestrated version that did not originally include a flute. It provides a more straightforward basis for working on the piece, and is generally easier to read for practice and learning.

When transcribing, FluteConvert requires a flute that is present and identifiable in the recording: the more distinct the flute is, the more accurate the score will be. When the flute shares its register with other instruments (vocals, strings, synths), or when the audio is highly compressed, detection can become more difficult. In arrangement, FluteConvert can still be used on a wide variety of songs: the conversion aims to produce a flute version based on the melody (and the song’s landmarks), even if the original does not contain a flute. Very busy or ambient tracks can influence the result, but the arrangement is specifically designed to produce a more readable and playable output.

On average, allow about two minutes for a piece of average complexity. The duration depends mainly on the length and complexity of the line (ornaments, fast passages, variations). The goal is to quickly produce a usable flute score.
