GuitarConvert - Convert your audio files into PDF, MIDI, and XML guitar tabs

GuitarConvert is an application that converts an audio file or YouTube video into guitar tablature and sheet music. The goal is to save you time when learning a song, finding a riff, analyzing a chord progression, or retrieving a playable guitar part. You can download the result in PDF format to read the score, in MIDI format to use it in a DAW, and in MusicXML format to edit it in notation software.

Transcription consists of reproducing the guitar part actually played in the recording as faithfully as possible, which implies that a guitar is present in the audio and sufficiently audible to be distinguished from the rest of the mix; without an identifiable guitar, there is nothing to transcribe for this instrument. Arrangement, on the other hand, does not seek to extract an existing guitar at all costs: it offers an adaptation of the piece for guitar, reproducing the main melody as best as possible and, when it makes sense, adding a coherent accompaniment, in order to obtain a more readable, more “guitar-friendly” version that is more enjoyable to play, even if the original does not contain a guitar or if the guitar is difficult to isolate.

Paste a YouTube link or import an audio/video file, then choose Transcription or Arrangement depending on your goal. GuitarConvert analyzes the song, extracts the guitar part when it is identifiable, and generates an output ready to be played or reworked. All you have to do is download your files (PDF, MIDI, MusicXML) and, if necessary, adjust the rendering in your usual software.

You can start with a YouTube link or an imported file, whether audio or video. Common formats are supported (MP3, WAV, MP4, AAC, etc.), allowing you to use both a “home” recording and an excerpt exported from a video edit.

Transcription is recommended when the recording features a clearly audible guitar (riff, picking, rhythm, solo) and the goal is to reproduce the part as it is played, with its rhythmic placement and details. Arrangement is preferable when the goal is to play the song on guitar from a vocal or multi-instrument version, or when the guitar is too buried in the mix, as it provides a clearer and more directly usable version for learning and rehearsal.

GuitarConvert can work on many tracks, but there is one strict condition for transcription: a guitar must actually be present and clearly audible in the audio, otherwise the conversion cannot produce a reliable guitar part. The best results come from a clean source, with a well-defined guitar that is not masked by drums, synths, or vocals. When arranging, the presence of a guitar in the original is not essential, as the app adapts the music for guitar by reproducing the melody and relevant accompaniment as best as possible, allowing a wide variety of songs to be converted, including those that are not guitar-centric. The final quality is still influenced by the clarity of the musical structure and the audio quality, but the arrangement is generally more robust on dense or highly produced tracks.

On average, it takes about two minutes to convert a song of average complexity. The time may vary depending on the length of the file and its harmonic and rhythmic complexity.
