PianoConvert converts audio to piano sheet music. You can choose between two modes: transcription, to reproduce what is played as closely as possible, and arrangement, to get a more readable, more “pianistic” version. The result can be downloaded as PDF, MIDI, and MusicXML.

Transcription reproduces the piano part actually played in the recording, note by note, with its rhythm and variations. For a reliable result, the piano must be present in the audio and clearly audible: if the piano is buried in a very busy mix (drums, bass, synths, vocals) or if the source is of poor quality, accuracy may drop. Arrangement doesn’t try to “find” an existing piano at all costs. It creates a piano adaptation of the song, capturing the main melody and accompaniment as faithfully as possible to produce a version that is more readable and more enjoyable to play. The goal is a coherent, usable “pianistic” score, even when the original has no piano or when the piano is hard to isolate.

Transcription is the best choice when the recording features a clearly identifiable piano (solo piano, dominant piano, or a piano part in the foreground) and the goal is sheet music that is faithful to the original performance. It is particularly suited to capturing exactly what is played, analyzing a passage, or replaying a performance as closely as possible. Arrangement is recommended when you want to play a song on the piano that isn’t a piano piece, or when a track features several instruments and you want a complete, readable, and playable piano version. It creates a musical adaptation with melody and accompaniment, designed to sound natural on the piano, without relying on a piano being present in the original recording.

PianoConvert can convert a wide variety of songs, but the result depends on the mode selected and the quality of the source. For transcription, piano must actually be present in the audio and clearly audible: a solo piano or a piano that is prominent in the mix will give the best results, while a piano buried in a very dense arrangement, heavy compression, or a degraded recording can reduce accuracy. In arrangement mode, the original doesn’t need to contain piano, because PianoConvert creates a complete piano adaptation of the song, capturing the main melody and a coherent accompaniment as faithfully as possible, to produce piano sheet music that is readable and playable, even from a multi-instrument or vocal song. In all cases, a clean audio source and well-defined music improve quality, but arrangement is generally more robust when the track is busy or when the goal is to quickly play a usable piano version.
