La Cucaracha is a traditional Spanish song whose date of origin is uncertain and whose author is not known. It was introduced to Mexico by the Spaniards in 1818 and was sung by the supporters of the President of the Republic of Mexico Benito Juarez who were fighting against the imperial government as well as by some revolutionary factions during the Mexican civil war that raged at the beginning of the 20th century.
